DESCRIPTION

A growing body of research points to practices like the body scan meditation for helping people with stress, anxiety and chronic pain. I’ve been meditating for over two decades and consider this practice the anchor of my life. It’s a privilege to share this journey with others. This free, weekly class in EngageXR offers a relaxing and immersive guided body-scanning meditation experience that blends mindfulness with cutting-edge virtual reality technology. Together, we pause to cultivate inner awareness and explore the changing nature of our bodies. I’ve designed soothing virtual environments in EngageXR to support and enhance our time together.

GUIDED BODY-SCANNING MEDITATION

This is a 25-minute guided meditation. To maintain a focused and uninterrupted environment, we begin promptly at 10 minutes past the hour. Please join on time, take a moment to settle in, and ensure your microphone is muted before the session starts.

During this meditation, you will be guided through a systematic practice of bringing awareness to different areas of the body. This technique fosters deep relaxation, mindfulness, and a greater connection with bodily sensations.

BEFORE YOU JOIN

Prepare Your Space:

  • Find a quiet, comfortable place in real life.

  • Remove your shoes and settle into a relaxed posture.

  • Kindly ask loved ones not to disturb you for the next 30 minutes.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

ENGAGEXR: To join in VR, download the EngageXR app for your VR headset, desktop, laptop, or mobile device. You can find it here.

New to EngageXR? Visit their YouTube channel for tutorials on hand controls, navigating in VR, and using your device.

If you’re late, click the white button after landing in the virtual space. This will activate a digital guide to help you understand the ongoing body-scanning process.

POST-MEDITATION DISCUSSION AND WORLD HOP

You’re welcome to stay after the meditation for a discussion and/or world hopping. These moments often provide opportunities to reflect on your experience, uncovering subtle or noticeable sensations, or even moments of stillness. Each practice is unique and evolves from one day to the next.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

This class is open to all, regardless of prior meditation experience. Join this relaxing virtual reality guided meditation session, where mindfulness and technology converge to reconnect you with your body.
